OFFSITE Awakening the Heart: A Kirtan & Sound Healing Experience w/ Brian Sweet, William Brandt & Shane Lasby

6:00 – 7:30 pm (EST) Saturday November 15th, hosted by Brian Sweet at the Tidal Marsh Studio, 1555 Tidal Marsh Lane in Mt. Pleasant. To honor each other, please arrive 5 minutes early to settle onto your mat or blanket. When bliss connections & experiences nourish your soul, please consider making a tax-deductible donation at givetobliss.com. Thank-you for your friendship & support. Join us for an uplifting evening of sacred music and sound healing designed to quiet the mind, open the heart, and connect you to the peace within. We’ll journey together through the ancient practice of kirtan — a form of call-and-response chanting that blends music and mantra to awaken spiritual joy. Kirtan invites us to sing from the heart rather than perform from the mind, creating a beautiful atmosphere of unity and devotion. You’ll be guided by Brian Sweet (harmonium, vocals), Shane Lasby (guitar, vocals), and William Brandt (sound healing instruments) as they weave together heartfelt chants, soothing sounds, and moments of stillness. The experience includes immersive sound healing elements such as singing bowls and the ocean drum. No singing experience is needed — just an open heart. Singing together naturally activates the vagus nerve, calming the nervous system and promoting a deep sense of relaxation and wellbeing. Many participants describe feeling lighter, more centered, and deeply connected — both inwardly and with the community around them. Come as you are and allow the power of sound, breath, and shared intention to restore balance and harmony within. Co-Facilitators: Brian Sweet, brian@sweetfam.org For me, music has become a powerful doorway to the sacred. It’s a kind of medicine for the heart… a way to release, to surrender, and to rediscover the peace and joy within. When I found kirtan and began playing the harmonium, it changed my life. It felt like coming home. Through chanting and sound, I discovered a divine healing that doesn’t come from effort but from allowing. It has helped me release trapped energies, opening my heart for more joy and happiness! I’m excited to share this heartfelt practice with you and pray it will be as lifegiving for you as it has been for me! William Brandt, w.brandt@gmail.com I embarked on the path of incorporating sound therapy into my wellness regimen after experiencing burnout and fatigue in my demanding professional IT career. My first sound healing experience left me in awe. I was astounded by the transformative and rejuvenated effects I found, and eventually found myself acquiring my own set of crystal bowls, allowing me to incorporate sound therapy into my regular routine. Combined with Yoga and meditation, I experienced stress relief and began finding it easier to practice mindfulness and embrace the flow of life. I have always prioritized holistic wellness: encompassing the realms of physical, mental, and spiritual health. During a sound therapy session I can’t help but pause, reflect, and breathe deeply. I felt compelled to share what I’ve found in sound therapy with others on their own journey of seeking to express their higher self. I created this class to help anyone struggling with anxiety, stress, and depression to heal through the medicine of sound and breath. I also enjoy spending time in nature, bicycling, and paddling on Charleston’s many beautiful waterways. Shane Lasby For over two decades, Shane Lasby has shared the spirit of Bhakti through music as a YOGI, guitarist, songwriter, and longtime member of The JAIS. His sound blends traditional Sanskrit mantra with modern, atmospheric textures created through layered guitar effects, inviting listeners into a meditative and heart-opening space. Influenced by Krishna Das, Bhagavan Das, Shyam Das, Trevor Hall, Prema Hara, and others, Shane’s music bridges devotion and contemporary sound. With 25 years of yoga practice and two Yoga Teacher Trainings, his path reflects a deep integration of yoga, music, and spiritual expression. Each performance is an offering—an invitation to awaken the divine within through rhythm, mantra, and sacred sound.

ONSITE Drop-in Slow Stitching Mixed Media Art w/ Lena Vieira

5:30 – 7:00 pm (EST), every Wednesday at bliss, 1007 Johnnie Dodds Blvd, The Mezzanine Suite 228 in Mt. Pleasant. When bliss connections & experiences nourish your soul, please consider making a tax-deductible donation at givetobliss.com. Thank-you for your friendship & support. All skill levels are welcome. I want to share this wonderful, meditative handiwork with you. Slow stitching or intuitive sewing combines techniques and traditions from quilting, mending, embroidery, Japanese Sashiko and Indian Kantha. For centuries people have used hand stitching to mend, create textiles and adorn clothing or furnishings. Common and versatile stitches will be taught along with embroidery stitches. In this class we will create a small art piece with scraps of cotton fabric and embroidery floss. We will explore color, texture, composition and make space for a quiet, mindful practice. You will find slow stitch projects are very portable with no right or wrong way to create. I love to use this as a self-care practice as slow stitching requires you to be fully engaged. With every stitch I find a deeper sense of calm. There will be lots of interesting fabric, beautiful embroidery thread and a variety of needles. If you feel inspired to bring some cloth, lace, textile scraps, etc, you are welcome to. Facilitator: Lena Vieira, lenasglass@gmail.com Lena is primarily a mosaic artist, though she also slow stitches, creates mixed media and assemblage pieces. Growing up amongst the beauty of Northern California spawned a great affection for nature, which is evident in her work. Lena has curated art shows and shown her glass mosaics in many galleries as well as taught art classes in mosaics, slow stitch, lino block printing and mixed media assemblage. Her approach to her artwork as in other aspects of her life is emotional, looking for growth, healing and meaning. Lena is a student at The Somatic Institute for Women and loves to integrate the teachings of shadow work and feminine exploration into her pieces.
