Reflexology is a science that deals with the principle that there are reflex areas in the feet and hands which correspond to all of the glands, organs and parts of the body. Stimulating these reflexes has been linked to reduced stress and tension, improved nerve and blood supply which helps nature in normalizing balance. The idea behind Reflexology is not new and was practiced as early as 2330 B.C. by the Egyptian and Chinese cultures. In the early 1900’s, Dr. William H. Fitzgerald discovered the Chinese Method of Zone Therapy and brought attention to the western medical world. Dr. Fitzgerald made further developments and in 1917 wrote a book entitled, Zone Therapy. Eunice Ingham, a physiotherapist, felt there was more to be explored with Zone Therapy. Through her extensive research and practice, she had mapped the body to the feet and hands and developed The Ingham Method© of Reflexology.

I am originally from Massachusetts and moved to the Charleston area in 2018. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Business and have practiced corporate accounting for over 30 years.

For decades, I have been an avid reader, researcher and follower of holistic/homeopathic health approaches. While in Massachusetts, I became acquainted with Reflexology but was not ready to act on my inspiration. Fast forward to 2022, due to a downsizing, I was fortunate enough to be laid off from my corporate accounting position and I chose to look at it as a sign to shift my energies toward something that was much more in-line with my passions. After completing my hours of study and practice, I earned my certification in Reflexology from the International Institute of Reflexology.

The effects of Reflexology continue to amaze me. I have had the opportunity to work the hands and feet of hundreds of clients reaffirming my belief that our bodies are intelligently designed to heal themselves. We just need to give the body what it needs and get out of the way. The feet and hands act as self-tuners for the rest of the body. For example, each foot has 7200 nerve endings that extensively connect through the spinal cord and brain to all areas of the body. Sometimes these connections get congested and manifest in the feet as sensitivities. Through specific Reflexology stimulation, these reflexes are worked to relieve stress and tension, improve blood supply and to promote the unblocking of nerve impulses to help nature achieve homeostasis.

I invite you to sign up for a 1-hour foot reflexology session at Bliss Spiritual Co-op today.
